Andrea L. Amico, MD, MA, is a medical oncologist and hematologist with expertise in treating a broad array of cancers and blood disorders. Dr. Amico works with UChicago Medicine’s Preventive Oncology Program team, offering genetic testing, counseling and care coordination for high-risk patients. As part a multidisciplinary cancer team, she provides a wide array of standard-of-care and innovative cancer treatments as well as supportive care, including chemotherapy, management of chemotherapy side-effects, immunotherapy and novel “targeted” therapies, which are guided by precision medicine and cancer genomic profiling, clinical trials and investigational therapeutics in a convenient community setting.

Given her expertise in medical anthropology, Dr. Amico is passionate about caring for patients from disparate sociocultural and economic backgrounds. She believes in integrating patients’ personal and cultural beliefs with evidence-based medicine, which empowers patients to play an active role in their healthcare journeys.
