UChicago Medicine Administrative Fellowship

Moustapha Mbaye (2023-2025) is a native of the Southside of Chicago, IL, and obtained his bachelor’s degree in molecular biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After completing his undergraduate studies, he moved to Saint Louis, MO where he received his Master of Health Administration at Saint Louis University’s College of Public Health and Social Justice. During Moustapha’s time as a graduate student, he worked with St. Louis’s Department of Public Health to create dashboards for public health workforce trainings. Additionally, he was an administrative intern within the Department of Construction and Real Estate at Hartford HealthCare focusing on both patient safety and environmental sustainability. He is an active member of the National Association of Health Service Executives (NAHSE) being awarded the 2022 Haynes-Rice Award and participating in the 26th and 27th Annual Everett V. Fox Student Case Competition. He received his Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification establishing his understanding of enhanced problem-solving and process improvement skills. His professional interests include health equity, community health, strategic planning, and infrastructure and design.

Isabelle Arguilez (2023-2025) is from San Diego, CA, and is a recent graduate of San Diego State University School of Public Health where she earned her Master of Public Health with a concentration in Health Promotion and Behavioral Science. During her time at San Diego State University, she worked as a graduate student worker for the County of San Diego, Health and Human Services Agency, Aging and Independence Services, where she developed, implemented, and evaluated an iPad Digital Literacy curriculum for older adults in the county. The Digital Literacy curriculum supported the CHAT program to mitigate the negative health effects associated with the Digital Divide and provided hands-on technical support to seniors enrolled in the program. Isabelle was awarded Outstanding Student of the Year (2023) for the Health Promotion and Behavioral Science division by the faculty for her dedication to her program evaluation capstone project, passion for Public Health, and overall success as a student. Her professional interests include increasing access to quality healthcare, working with marginalized populations, community and population health, systems improvement, and patient experience.

Samantha Martinez (2022 – 2024) is from Franklin Lakes, NJ, and a recent graduate from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. She was awarded the John and Kathleen Gorman Public Health Humanitarian Award for her work to increase health literacy strategy in historically marginalized and immigrant communities. During her matriculation, Samantha led an initiative with the Chief Diversity Officer and senior executive leadership of the Mount Sinai Health System, in New York City to improve patient health outcomes impacted by racial disparities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Under Congressman Adriano Espaillat, Samantha developed a program that increased vaccination rates in New York’s 13th district when vaccine hesitancy due to historical mistrust and social determinants were prevalent. As an Executive Intern at New Jersey’s Englewood Health System, Samantha worked in the Breast Center to strategize workflow efficiencies and decrease patient treatment delays to ensure better results and outcomes. Samantha completed a B.S. in Biology at The George Washington University with a minor in Business Administration. Her professional interests include patient experience, and operational improvement, community health, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and social determinants of health.

Jasmine Reid (2022 – 2024) is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio and attended Vanderbilt University where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Medicine Health and Society with a minor in Corporate Strategy. After completing her bachelors, she worked as a patient advocate in Dallas, Texas for four years helping patients better understand their health insurance. Jasmine then earned her Master of Health Administration at the Ohio State University. While in the master’s program, she was a member of the winning team for the National Association of Health Service Executives (NAHSE) 26th Annual Everett V. Fox Student Case Competition and completed her administrative residency at the Cleveland Clinic in their Digestive Disease and Surgery Institute. Both her work experience in Dallas and her residency have sparked a passion for improving access to health services and enhancing the patient experience, especially for marginalized communities. Her professional interests include population health, patient access, clinical operations, and patient experience.
